BIRMINGHAM, Ala- A major crash occurred on Highway 280 at Shades Creek Parkway just after 8pm according to Mountain Brook Chief of Police, Ted Cook.

“A person reportedly got out of the wrecked vehicle and crossed over to the eastbound side on foot. The pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the eastbound side,” Cook said in a Facebook post.

AL.com reports the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 24-year-old Miranda Lynn Wiley of Trussville.

Both directions of Hwy 280 were facing major traffic delays while the crash was under investigation.
