With Samford University’s spring semester well underway, Samford students have many different events ahead of them.

The Student Activities Council is working hard to ensure the continuation of Samford Spring Traditions in conjunction with COVID-19 Safety Guidelines.

“We abide by all Samford COVID cautions,” SAC President Claire Pool said. All students must wear face masks and social distance to attend our events. We also do not exceed the number of people allowed per space that Samford has set for each room or area on campus.”

To prevent unsafe crowds, tickets will be required for entry to SAC events, a system that Pool said worked well in the fall semester.

“We figured out a way to do a ticketing system last semester that seemed to work really well, so we will be continuing to do that,” Pool said.

With the ticketing system and COVID-19 guidelines in place, Samford’s annual Easter Egg Hunt and Summer Send-Off are events students can get excited about. In addition to these events, the SAC is currently working on an event that Pool said students will be excited for, which will be announced soon.

In addition to in-person events, the SAC will be doing several virtual events where in-person attendance is no longer probable. Harry’s Concerts, a Samford student favorite, are not returning this semester due to COVID concerns. However, Pool announced a virtual alternative.

“We are starting a new series on our Instagram this next month that will feel a lot like Harry’s concerts,” Pool said. “Be sure to follow us so you don’t miss out.”

Community is a vital aspect of life at Samford University. By following the COVID-19 guidelines, the SAC is able to bring Samford Students together for all of these different events.

“We learned a lot about how to host events safely in a COVID-19 world,” Pool said. “We abide by all of Samford’s set rules to ensure the safety of all students and faculty involved while still trying our best to host great events that allow students to have fun, make memories and spend time with friends.”

Details and announcements about these events are located on the SAC Instagram page @sacsamford.
