On Monday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m., a new bench on Ben Brown Plaza was dedicated in a ceremony to the late Kristi Metz. Metz’s husband, kids and extended family members attended the ceremony, along with many members of the Samford community.

Metz was a SAMbassador for Samford University in the marketing department. According to Human Resources Assistant Director of Individual & Organizational Success, Adam Roebuck, it is thanks to donations given during Samford’s annual Big Give campaign that Metz’s bench was made possible.

“We’re grateful to have this here in her honor,” Roebuck said.

Vice President for Advancement and Marketing Betsy Holloway prayed to open the ceremony, and Roebuck followed to give a tribute to Metz. Next, Executive Director of Broadcast Services, Brad Radice, read from 2 Timothy 2:1-13. Social Media Manager Lauren Marino followed with a song, and Assistant Vice President for Creative and Web Marketing, Todd Cotton, closed the ceremony in prayer.

The new bench can be found on the side of Ben Brown Plaza by the University Center.
