Samford alum, James L. Hart, accused Samford University of stealing the Theta Alpha Zeta House. The house was donated by the Theta Alpha Zeta House Corporation of Lambda Alpha Chi non-profit in 1973, which was formed by alumni’s of the chapter.

However, the house was soon taken away from them in December of 2011 after a hazing incident; in fact, the fraternity was suspended and removed off campus.

After Hart’s appeal was denied by the judge of Jefferson County on Sept. 19, 2022, Hart decided to take it up to the state Supreme Court a month later.

Decisions have been yet to be made, however, Hart openly expressed his anger in press releases and interviews.
