Samford’s Head Softball Coach Megan Curry was just inducted into Samford’s Hall of Fame
Megan Curry, Samford University’s head softball coach, has been inducted into the Samford Athletics Hall of Fame, a prestigious honor that recognizes her contributions to the sport both as a coach and a former player.
The induction ceremony, which took place on Sept. 15, celebrated her outstanding achievements and lifelong commitment to softball.
Curry’s journey with Samford softball began long before she became the head coach. As a former standout player for the Bulldogs, she led the team to several notable victories during her collegiate years, earning a reputation as one of the most dedicated athletes in Samford history.
Upon graduating, she transitioned into coaching, where she continued to leave her mark on the program by nurturing young talent and elevating Samford softball to new heights.
“It’s surreal,” Curry said during an interview following the ceremony, “I’ve always worked hard for the team, both as a player and a coach, but being recognized in this way, it’s really humbling. It brings everything full circle.”
For Curry, being inducted into the Hall of Fame is more than a personal achievement—it represents the culmination of years of dedication, not just to the game but to the university itself.
“Samford has been a home for me for so many years,” she said. “The relationships I’ve built here, the memories on the field, it’s all part of what makes this so special.”
The induction into the Hall of Fame also reflects Curry’s influence on her players. Under her leadership, Samford softball has seen several record-breaking seasons, with players consistently recognized for their athletic and academic performance.
“Every day our team is eager to learn from her because we seek to have the success that she led her team to when she was a player,” McKayla Cothran, one of Curry’s current players said.
Her coaching style, which emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and mental toughness, has earned her respect throughout the collegiate sports community.
“As a team it’s super inspiring to play for a coach that has already set the standard for us and had the success she did during her time here as a player,” said Cothran.
As Curry continues to lead the Bulldogs, she remains focused on the future of Samford softball.
“This honor motivates me to keep pushing the program forward. There’s always more to achieve, and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together,” Curry said.
Curry’s Hall of Fame induction not only celebrates her remarkable career but also serves as inspiration for the next generation of Samford athletes, showing them that dedication and passion for the game can lead to lifelong success.
