Multiple high-value NFL players have started off the 2019 season with injuries. Here’s a list of players who have gone down, possibly affecting your hometown or fantasy team.

Drew Brees – QB, New Orleans Saints (2-1)

The New Orleans quarterback and Super Bowl MVP has suffered his first major injury in 15 years. Brees went into surgery on Sept. 18 to fix a torn ligament in his right thumb, and is expected to be out for six weeks. Brees has been replaced with the former Louisville star Teddy Bridgewater, who led the Saints to victory over the Seahawks last Sunday.

Ben Roethlesburger – QB, Pittsburgh Steelers (0-3)

Ben “Big Ben” Roethlesburger also went down in week two, but with an elbow injury, requiring surgery that will keep him out for the rest of the season. The Steelers are now led by rookie quarterback and Oklahoma State graduate Mason Rudolph. Additionally, former Samford star QB Devlin Hodges was promoted to second-string.

Saquon Barkley – RB, New York Giants (1-2)

The Giants running back left their week three game versus Tampa Bay with a high ankle sprain. An MRI on Monday confirmed the injury and Barkely is expected to return in approximately six weeks.

David Njoku – TE, Cleveland Browns (1-2)

A fundamental piece of the new and improved Cleveland offense will be taking some time off due to a broken wrist suffered in a game against the Jets. Njoku’s injury is expected to keep him out for at least eight weeks.

Derrius Guice – RB, Washington Redskins (0-3)

The former LSU star running back has suffered a torn meniscus, which will keep him out for approximately six weeks. With Guice out, the Washington Redskins have turned to Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson. This is the second year in a row that Guice has been sidelined due to a serious leg injury.

Tyreek Hill – WR, Kansas City Chiefs (3-0)

The speedy Chiefs receiver suffered a collarbone injury in their week one matchup against the Jaguars. The injury was originally expected to last around six weeks, but ESPN reports that he is already making excellent progress in his recovery.
