Samford scored three goals in the final 15 minutes of the game to improve to 5-1-3 on the season, earning a 3-0 victory over Southern Conference rivals The Citadel for back-to-back home wins this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama.

Offensively, Samford doubled The Citadel’s shot attempts, with those numbers favoring the Bulldogs from Birmingham by a tally of 24-12.

Samford also outnumbered The Citadel in corner kicks 11-7.

Caroline Orman led Samford in shot attempts with five and netted a goal for the Bulldogs. Kylie Gazza and Morgan Greene also bagged goals for Samford in the win.

Samford goalkeeper Morgan McAslan had a total of two saves for the home team.

Samford found the net for the first time after 76 minutes of gameplay when Kyla Reynolds found Caroline Orman who floated the ball over The Citadel goalkeeper Brie Sikes to give Samford the lead, and some much-needed momentum.

Samford’s second goal would come nine minutes later off a three-header set piece as Kylie Gazza slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Morgan Greene would add the final goal for the Bulldogs in the last minute of play from just outside the 18-yard box.

Samford will return to action in Lexington, Virginia, to take on the VMI Keydets on Thursday, April 1. The game is set for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
