Katie Hultquist: Clinical Intern with the Office of Accessibility and Accommodation

Accessibility at Samford has been an ongoing issue for many years. With the recent record enrollment at the university, accessibility has been a top concern.

The Office of Accessibility and Accommodations has been working to try to enhance accessibility around campus. Many students do not realize how inconvenient getting to class using accessible-only paths is until they experience it themselves. Lips in the pavement, push-to-open doors, handicapped parking and stairs all over campus make people with physical disabilities trips around campus that much harder.

“There are so many opportunities for college students to get involved and then also just like change the culture,” said Katie Hultquist, a clinical intern in the Office of Accessibility and Accommodation.

The OAA encourages students to learn more about disabilities and speak up when they see something that causes those with disabilities to struggle getting around campus.

The Office of Accessibility and Accommodations hopes to gain more attention around campus to help make Samford more accessible.
