On May 27, 2020, Samford senior Taylor Korte and her best friend, Mackenzie Marsh, started the podcast, “She’s Going Places.”

Due to the cancellation of her internship in Washington D.C., Korte said she felt that she was wasting her time and her summer. One day, while getting Chick-Fil-A with Marsh, they decided to start the podcast.

As far as naming the podcast, Korte said it was a joint brainstorming effort.

“We just started throwing out names, we wanted it to be a short name but easy to say. We also wanted it to be a cute saying but we also wanted it to be unique. We were just running back and forth and it’s honestly the quickest I’ve ever named anything in my life,” she said.

After much discussion, they came up with the title, “She’s Going Places.” The name is a play on their love for travel and in reference to the show being about several topics of interest to female listeners, including relationships, empowerment and self-care. .

Korte also discussed the recording process of her first episode.

“We had to re-record the first episode three times. We had accidentally recorded it with our computer audio, and I didn’t know how to edit the audio. I had to stay up to 4 a.m. in the morning watching YouTube videos about how to edit a podcast. It has been a little bit of a hustle ever since,” Korte said.

Since the podcast’s launch, Marsh has stepped away, leaving Korte as the show’s   main contributor. .

Korte calls her podcast a “lifestyle podcast” and said  that there is not a certain category that it falls under. It’s mainly about her life and her views on certain topics.

She explained that she did not want her podcast to fall under the religion category, because it would not attract non-believers.

“It’s not a Christian podcast and I wanted that because if you’re not a believer, you’re not going and looking through the religious podcasts,” Korte said. “But if you see a cute girl on Instagram talking about dating, you’re going to be more inclined to click on it.”

Korte shared her hopes for her podcast.

“My biggest hope is that people are able to see Christ in everything I do. I also hope that my followers know that they have a friend,” Korte said.

As far as the future of her podcast, Korte has no plans of stopping anytime soon.. Her podcast is about to hit 15,000 downloads. In celebration of her podcast’s one-year anniversary, Korte is currently planning to have a product launch and a “She’s Going Places” sticker pack available.

Korte’s podcast can be found on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. To stay up to date on news pertaining to her podcast, follow her podcast on Instagram, @shesgoingplacespodcast and her Facebook group, She’s Going Places.
