Dear The Beez,

My studying isn’t getting it done.  My methods are out of the window and I have exhausted all of my study spots.  The Lib has become stale, my room never worked, even empty classrooms aren’t getting it done.  I went off campus once, I can’t get anything done – coffee shops, off campus libraries, all of it.  I physically can’t seem to study anymore. I need a new spot, or just a way to get motivated to study anymore.  Please help me.

Courtney,

Thanks so much for reaching out.  The first step to fighting this pain is through vulnerability, and you’ve really demonstrated an incredible amount of it, and I think you can be an example for others to follow.

I have a patented, foolproof method that will take all of your stress away – no more worrying about assignments, no more late nights studying, no more getting frustrated over your productivity.

It’s 2 sets of 2 words.  Give up and stop trying.  Your work will be in vain, everything that you do under the sun is going to be completely in vain and there is no point in even trying, for what comes from dust will return to it someday.  All is vanity, vanity of vanities! (I’m going through Ecclesiastes and am pretty bummed right now).

You can’t have stress about your work if you never do your work, and you can’t worry about tests if you never show up.  You study for a test only to start learning new material, and the cycle repeats.  You do your laundry just to make it dirty again. Let those grades fall and the laundry piles up!

Kidding….sort of. In all reality, stop trying so hard.  Your identity is not found in grades, and remember that anything you do will fade but the Lord remains forever.  Your flesh and your heart may fail, but God will be your refuge forever, and our work in Him is not in vain!

Best,

The Beez
