Dear The Beez,

I hope you’re doing well.  I’m getting fired up to go trick or treating for my first time in college – last year I was sick for the whole week of Halloween.  This week, my whole friend group and I have our routes charted out and we’ve been training to utilize our speed. But I am currently incapacitated with indecision of what costume to wear.  I’m torn apart and I’m completely lacking in ideas.  Help me, The Beez, you’re my only hope.

Dear Spencer –

Thanks for reaching out. Don’t let the haters get to you. I, for one, have gone trick or treating every Halloween for my entire life, dealing with the derision, the pain, and the rejection.

But we press on! Here are a couple of costume ideas, some Samford-themed, some not.

Beck Taylor. This one is easy. All you need is a suit, a tie, a bald cap, a samford pin, and a red and blue striped tie. It might take some time learning to mimic his voice though.

Tommy Taylor.  Sticking to the Taylor theme here, this one is even simpler.  You need a Samford police polo, which I’m sure they would lend you if you asked nicely.  You would also need a very specific dark blue fitted Samford hat, which they sell in the campus bookstore for $39.99. I would stay away from carrying a firearm, however. You also might need another bald cap for this one.

I read somewhere that they are taking applications to be the Samford Bulldog mascot.  There’s no better day to try out than Halloween!  Reach out to the athletic department with questions, comments, concerns, queries, and pithy remarks.

Lastly, Mr. Incredible. Outfits are rentable, starting at $29.99. You might have to put on some weight to fit into the lifelike costumes, but I think it’s worth it for the bit.

In Christ,
