On Apr.16, the annual Spring Swing and Shop was hosted on Ben Bown.

Spring Swing and Shop is an event where Samford students come and table for their small businesses.

The event was catered by Big Spoon and entertainment was provided by Magnolia Blue, a band consisting of five Samford students.

“We’re super thankful for the opportunity to play on-campus and had a lot of fun,” said the band’s drummer, Sam Allen. “Obviously, the campus power outage threw off our mojo a little bit, but still glad we got to do it thanks to everyone who stuck around.”

Magnolia Blue performs at Samford’s Battle of the Bands on Wednesday, Apr. 23 and at The Grocery on Thursday, Apr. 24.

Numerous businesses set up shop around the fountain that afternoon.

Brooks Paper Company is owned by Natalie Brooks, where she does handmade embroidery on journals, paper and more.

Liv’n 3D is a business where three-dimensional art is created and printed by mother-daughter duo Abigail and Liv Wilson. Every purchase made from there goes to funding for third grade STEAM projects.

Macie Elizabeth Art is a personal business created by Macie Elizabeth. She makes crafts such as necklaces, paintings and more.

John McBridge held a display table of figurines for sale.

“These are all painted by me,” he said. You can find his Instagram @. His prices range from $5-$10 each.

Buttons by KG is a newly started business that opened in March. This business, owned by Kiran Harper, serves custom buttons made to request.

“We produce for anybody,” Harper said. The business had buttons for clubs, sororities, Samford and more.

Other businesses included Marg Art, owned by art major Margaret Statom, a jewelry/ trinket store owned by Kaitlynn McCandless and more businesses consisting of art, jewelry and clothing.
