I’m so thankful for all the joy, laughter and friendships that the Crimson has brought me. No matter what mood I’m in, I can always walk into the Crimson office at 12 p.m. or 12 a.m. and be so welcomed!

I’ve had the privilege of serving as our Director of Photography for the past two years, as well as serving as a contributing photographer for my sophomore year.  I’ve shot everything from Step Sing Sweepstakes to parking protests to student-led musicals! Taking photos of the Samford community doing what they are passionate about has been a privilege and honor that I will treasure forever.

Alongside taking photos, I’ve also gotten to write stories! I’ve loved getting to know the students, teachers and coaches’ personalities behind the photos and videos I’ve taken.

Although taking photos and writing stories have been more than a dream come true, the real gift the Crimson has given me are the people I’ve spent this time with.

Nina, you are such a wonderful and joyful spirit, never change! You have a gift of being curious and kind with your words to tell the artistic stories of campus in a refreshing way! You are incredibly talented and I can’t wait to see you thrive in your next chapter!

Ben, you tell the redemptive power of sports through Samford’s athletic department perfectly. Your passion and hardworking spirit truly inspires me so much. Working in sports isn’t easy, but you make it look effortless and tell powerful stories filled with hope and inspiration! I can’t wait to hear stories about sports from your perspective as long as you keep writing them!

Kate, every time I see you, I know we are going to have so many laughs together! You are the most intentional listener, and that’s what makes your stories the impeccable works of art that they are. Whenever I hear we have a shift shooting a game together, my day is made a thousand times better! You are such a light wherever you are — there is no one I’d be more confident in to be our next EIC!

Lola, my goat! You are just such a special person to me! We were the girls that said, “We should make a podcast” and actually did it! Shoutout Goat Talk on Spotify for being the best podcast on the platform. You have such a gift of making the mundane things in life a worthwhile and exciting occasion! You celebrate others’ accomplishments and only see the good in others. Please be my hype woman forever! You are a joy and never fail to make me laugh when I’m around you. Thank you for being such a dear friend to me!

Syd, I’m thankful for the steadfastness in the way you have led our staff! Your commitment to truth and positivity have made the place the loving and tight-knit community that it is. You make this place somewhere where everyone feels comfortable enough to be themselves and ask questions, which is not an easy thing to do! You are so incredibly gifted at storytelling. Samford is so lucky to have had you as an EIC, and I’m luckier for being able to call you my friend!

And to the rest of the staff that I didn’t mention, I love you so much and am daily inspired by your passion for storytelling and inclusion of all the campus! I never want to say goodbye to any of you, but I am truly so happy and thankful to have been a part of the Crimson with you all! Telling Samford’s stories through visual storytelling these past 3 years has been a blessing and honor; I love the Samford Crimson!
