Samford’s Theatre and Dance Department is preparing for another set of musicals and theatrical productions.

This semester, the theatre and dance department has four productions planned. Between Feb. 21-22, the department will be having an annual dance concert at 7:30 p.m. and on Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m. in Harrison Theatre.

Then, from March 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. and March 22 at 2:30 p.m. in Harrison Theatre, the department will be perform Shakespeare’s, “As You Like It”.

According to Samford’s Arts Calendar, the play is about two companions who are banished from court, and end up finding refuge in the forest and ultimately finding the true meaning of love.

Samford’s theatre and arts department will host another production titled “Into the Woods.” This will be a joint production between the opera and musical theatre departments. “Into the Woods” is a combination of different fairy tales and will stress a multitude of life lessons.

“The show takes dark turns while illuminating the difficulty of relationships between parents and children, of learning to accept the consequences of our actions and of our responsibilities to others,” the Samford Arts website states.

The last production that the department will perform is the One Act Festival between April 30-May 1 at 6 p.m. in Harrison Theatre and Bolding Studio.
