Charleston, S.C- The mens and women’s cross country competed at the SOCON cross country championship Sunday morning at Johns Island County Park. The Samford women’s team finished runner-up and the men came in fifth this past weekend.
On the men’s side, Jeb Jones led the way for Samford in the 8k. He completed the race in 24:40.5, good for the 11th best time on the course. He was trailed by Andrew McGinnis, running the course in 25:02.8 placing 15th and running the course in 25:02.8 Caleb Scheffler placed 31st.
The women’s team was paced by Mckenzie Hogue who completed the 6k in 17:20.6. She was the 7th finisher in the race and was followed by second-team All-SoCon and All-Freshman team honoree Gabbie Hoots and Ashley Walker, who finished 10th and 14th.
Next up Samford mens and women’s cross country will compete in the NCCA South Regional Championships on November 11th, in Huntsville, Al.
